you could potentially sell it to the friends or family that would be using it with you that way you can get (some of) the new (more) gear that you want and you would still be able to let these people use the tent. as long as they are the same people each time.

I was going to vote for keeping it for those occasions when it might allow you to outfit others that you'd like to camp with, but hey... I like pineapplenewton's idea too!!!!

I have a couple of tents. Which are both Plains style tipis. Obvioulsy not for back backing, unless you are a horse or two. But I've seriously been thinking about rigging a period canvas tarp as a hammock to sleep in while out tipis camping. I think I'll just hang it from the tripod base poles and brace them if needed. I just can't take sleeping on the ground much.

There's no way I could answer this question for you.

But ... thought of giving it to some deserving family? When I was a kid, family camping at the lake was our big (and cheap) entertainment all summer and such a great family thing to do.
