Hello From Canton Ga

Hey gang,

I am an avid log time camper and Scoutmaster that recently joined the ranks of tree sleepers. I have spent 2 weekends hanging already, 1 of which was a cold weekend in February and the other just last weekend on Tybee Island. Both outing I enjoyed the best sleep I have had on a campout. No pressure points and no snoring so I have been told I have to always sleep in the hammock. My setup includes a Hennessy Expedition Asm Zip with an Eno UQ. The UQ is not the best fit but got a great deal on it at an REI scratch and dent sale so I make it work.DSCN0189.jpg

Welcome aloft from S.C. You will find so much wonderful information on this forum for your new camping method. I must admit, this is the first time I heard the hammock stop your snoring. I wish it would make a few others stop snoring. You will see what I mean when you attend a group hang. I try to stay a little further from the group so the snoring doesn't keep me awake.

If you get a chance, please join the Palmetto State Hangers (PSH) for one of our group hangs. You will have a great time. Also, there is a group hang at Leroy's Ferry Campground just north of McCormick, SC 9-11 May. It is right on the J. Strom Thurmond Lake. Come join us, and if you have a kayak or paddleboard, bring it. I hope to see you there.

As 2ply said, several group hangs in the N.Ga. area, and I try to make them all, these are great places to see different gear, get ideas, get new friends and generally enjoy oneself.
