    The Most RIDICULOUS Sleep!

So with forecasts of snow, and no tarp I spent a good 2 hours wandering around my house to find a good sheltered spot to hang. I tried two closet doors, reinforced by horizontal bars behind the doorframe - that didn't end up working since one bar kept falling. I looked in my attic for beams - there weren't any that seemed strong enough. I looked inside my house for a tarp - well I found several, but didn't want to set it up.

So here is what I ended up doing:

I hooked my warbonnet suspension up to a pillar in my house.

And then I hooked the other side of my blackbird suspension to the first, and attached my DIY hammock to my WBBB

And brought the other end of my hammock to the windowframe where it was connected up to two lengths of suspension that attached to my pygmy cherry tree.

Of course I blocked up the window with the curtains

And an air mattress that fit perfectly in the window frame (I put a blanket under the suspension so the amsteel wouldn't dig in to the window frame wood).

Then I hooked up a mummy bag to my hammock

Filled said mummy bag with down jackets (flash made the hammock look white here)
    IMG_20140416_085405.jpg
I put two down comforters on the floor so that the hammock compressed them when I hung in it.

And moved a box and foot-rest close to the hammock to push the comforters up around the sides of the hammock.

When you gotta hang, you just GOTTA hang! That there is some outside of the box thinking. Sweet deal....

That's some dedication, I've to say that's a lot of work and a good idea. How well did it work? Any damage to your walls?

That looked like a sketch of Wile E. Coyote trying to drop the safe on roadrunner as he ran thru the cañon. Awesome.

A people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives. A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it is but a prologue to a farce or tragedy, or perhaps both." - James Madison

I slept there for 3 nights, and there wasn't even any superficial denting. But my house is really old, so it's quite likely that there is a solid brick pillar beneath the paint.

I did need the blanket on the windowsill though, that amsteel can saw through wood like butter.
