"Nothing could be more irrational than to give the people power and to withhold from them information, without which power is abused. A people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives. A popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it is but a prologue to a farce or tragedy, or perhaps both." - James Madison
Welcome from the Jersey Shore!
I lived in Tucson for a few years - some of the best hiking I've ever experienced is around Tucson.
One January day, the wife and I hiked up to Finger Rock in the Santa Catalina Mountains.

We started hiking at 10 am - 90 degrees in Tucson. We got to the summit about 3:30 pm. and then freezing rain, sleet, ice and snow conspired to keep us on the mountain all night. We didn't get off the mountain until 6 am the next day. We had plenty of food, clothing and water - just the icy conditions didn't allow a hasty retreat. What was easy hiking going up was like a luge going down - solid rock covered in ice.
Next time I come to Tucson I'm gonna hike the Finger Rock Trail every day for a week, just to show the trail who's boss!
