    loft hammock stand?

Anyone seen a hammock stand for the yard or indoors that is kinda like a bunk bed? where it is raised up to the ceiling with room under it ? wood or metal does not matter looking for the idea.

    That's a cool idea!
Raises the "inherent risk involved when using a hammock", but it sure would look cool.

yeah it would raise the risk but if i fall out of my hammock then there is a problem that should have been fixed. Also it could have your couch under it? soft landing maybe.

yeah like gilligans island but they had theres tied in the walls i am looking for a mobile solution would get your "bed" out of the way of you daily activities also warmer in the winter cause your closer the the roof

really going to need a step ladder to get in but it would be worth it just looking for ways to create more space in a small area

    Why raise the hammock up?

Why not just un-hook one end of the hammock and move it out of the way?

I bet you could use what Ed Speer uses for mobile stands. They are just steel tubing that you can buy at the hardware store pre-threaded. Crazy easy and simple to build, but not that cheap. I built two of them only 5' tall and the total cost was about $270.

I hung below my desk from a loft bed frame. Even the diagonal was a bit short, but I was close to the ground. You might be able to pick up a deal on a loft bed, (like a bunk bed with the two top bits). Hang it from the corners, even then the sag will probably be such that you won't need a ladder. Skin the hammock or tie it back to get it out of the way.

my hammock gear weights total: 2430g (~86oz)
    Winter: total 2521 (~89oz)
(see my profile for detailed weights)
