    Quilt Question.

So I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for so I'll post a thread. If this doesn't belong here can one of the mods move it?

I'm getting a feeling that I'm just an oddball in this respect are there any others that don't use under quilts and all that if it's above say 30 degrees Fahrenheit? I've got a sleeping bag that I use and it's good It's a REI 30 degree bag. Now, I will say that when it was in the negative teens here I was layered in an underquilt, two sleeping bags and most my day clothes. Am I just a freak of nature or are there others out there that just use a sleeping bag and call it good?

If it's below 50 I have got to have a UQ of some kind, or a wool blanket or something.

Underquilts are comfy and warm and fashionable, but they are certainly not the be-all, end-all. There are plenty of people who use other means of keeping warm: pads, sleeping bags, etc. If you have a system that works for you, then go with it... and enjoy A lot of people will offer their opinions on what works for them, I don't think I've ever heard someone disrespect another hanger for doing their own thing (unless you're choosing to sleep on the ground! GASP). I use a sleeping bag, modified to run the hammock through it (PeaPod-style) I say "H.Y.O.H, as long as you're hanging"

My nephew uses only am rei 30* bag at temps that would kill me and he is perfectly comfortable. Maybe it is the rei bag. I checked out his bag and very light weight and thin, looked like summer bag to me.

Is it down or synthetic? I can see synthetic maybe compressing on the bottom and making a nice barrier underneath.

I'm gonna have to try this out, I always assumed I'd freeze without a pad or UQ, never even tried without em. Of course, I'll have them with me in case :-)
