    Why Taper?

I'm pretty new and have an EE Revelation with half taper which I love, and also have an UGQ with full taper and it's a beautiful quilt but I'm not liking the full taper. It's not that much of a difference I'm sure but it sure feels smaller pretty bummed because I'll probably end up getting rid of it. When I ordered it I thought they were no taper rather than all full taper, my bad for not getting the proper info, and there wasn't any options. Now they offer half/full options Arg..

I'm leaning toward a set of HG's now and wondering why taper at all? I'm not a super active sleeper but don't like feeling confined and figure with no taper I'd have a lot more room. Aside from the obvious minimal extra weight what would be the cons if any??

I think you pretty much have it figured out. All of our quilts originally had a straight taper to them. It actually works quite well for hammock use because sleeping in a hammock generally requires less width for the top insulation.

I talk to many people that are transitioning from sleeping on the ground to trying a hammock and most of them tell me they are active sleepers and that they are used to transitioning from one side to the other and back again many times during the night. This habit tends to follow them when they move to using hammock... At least for a while.

I guess I am just trying to say that the little extra difference between the half taper and straight taper is just enough to help keep things tucked in better through the night... Which translates to a better nights sleep.. Whether you are on the ground or hanging between two trees.
