    Turtledog crash!

    Just had my first crash
I was moving my head up higher in the hammock. Had pulled the sides before but I pushed up with my feet a little too much and had a slow motion collapse.

Do you get more stability by hanging your ridge pole up as close to the tripod as you can?

I think I had a bit of momentum working against me

You gotta make sure the ridge pole is hanging straight down from the tripods. If its not, you can pull the tripods closer together resulting in a fall. Not sure if that's what happened or not, but it almost happened to me once.

yeah...wasn't on completely level ground and when I pushed off with my feet, it moved the ridgepole enough to throw it off balance.
Need to work on the rigging a bit as there is more material there than needed...cluttering it up and making it harder to keep it all lined up.

The lower you hang your cross member the more stable the hang. Remember the most stable point in a pyramid is the base.

Thanks for the physics! Makes sense. I've bent up the hinge now so I think I'll have to replace it
