Heat Reflective Bedding Blanket - Anybody tried this item?

    Hello

I just saw this item on a webshop. http://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/practical/XA107.html

Has any of you tried this?

As it says "breathable and silent" i am wondering if this could be used under the hammock instead of a quilt for above freezing temps. Any thoughts on that?

From their description it is probably aluminized 1.1 oz ripstop nylon. The aluminizing could reflect radiant heat, if placed very close to your skin (a couple of layers of clothing would have already absorbed the radiant heat), but would do next to nothing to block conductive and convective heat loss.

My thoughts are expect to be cold under 65°F.

I have Columbia Omni-Heat long johns, jackets coats and sleeping bag liner. Worn tightly to the body with a tight synthetic down 'Sweater' works just great. Add a warmlite vapor barrier jacket (about $80) against your skin (it feels like fleece) and you always quickly know when to vent excess heat rather than soaking everything.
    Regards,

I did an experiment a while back-------------I bought some silver "LA'ME" fabric from joanns--------that shiney metallic material they make fancy dresses out of. I sewed a foot pocket into the end, hemmed the edges and use it as a sheet/inner liner . Its really light weight, doesnt take much space, breathable, and the shiny coating seems to reflect heat pretty well. Not a replacement for a quilt, but it works pretty good as a low cost way to boost your bags temp rating!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Might be a good way to extend the range of an underquilt or pad..... Very interesting.
