Any way you could post some pics (you knew that was coming). I can't get a good mental picture of what you are doing.

I think I understand what you're doing, but why not just use a zip-tie? More adjustable and you can just cut it off if you need to change something.

Anything that forms as ring, fairly close to the hammock end/whipping and which can be slipped back up the suspension rope to get extra clearance. The extra clearance makes it easier to thread the shock cords (and possibly the toggle) through the ring. Slip back down close to the hammock body to keep shock cords close to the hammock body (and possibly prevent the toggle from slipping through the ring).

Pictures?? My $20 digital camera may be able to get decent photos. Will set up hammock again in basement stand and find out. If they are decent I will post.
I guess I was thinking in terms of my personal kit - I don't remove the UQ from the hammock unless I'm changing my insulation setup. In that sense a zip-tie could be fully tightened and just cut off when needed.

Those edges would really abrade the cord. The stainless steel or plastic rings are rounded and do not abrade the cord.
Interesting point. I guess I was thinking about using the zip-tie as a sort of new attachment point for the quilt suspension. With the ties pulled tight, the cords wouldn't move at all and you'd basically be attaching the quilt closer to your body. Which, as your pics suggest, might really be a better way to go. Let us know how much difference it makes with fitting and air gaps!

Interesting. On a suggestion to Jeff, I now put the ss to my uq over the ridgeline in my speer style. Way better than going up the support lines, at least in my case.

Interesting idea...have you tried a half-hitch on the shockcords?

Like this...check the last picture in the first section.
