    FOUND: Thermojet MicroLite Alcohol Stove

Saw one of these change hands a couple months ago, and looks like the vendor hasn't updated his site since 2007 - hesitant to go sending PayPal payments if I'm unsure about the vendor being able to fulfill orders.

Anyone out there looking to part with their Thermojet MicroLite?

If so, I'd be interested in one that has all the original components (stakes, fuel bottle, etc.).

Hope to hear from one of y'all!

Have you tried emailing the vendor to see if they respond?

Sent them an e-mail this afternoon, but posted this thread as a contingency plan - new, used, just hoping I can get ahold of one!

What makes you want this one specifically? There are a lot of great new designs out there.

Size/Packability: I have a Caldera Cone, which is efficient and sturdy, but doesn't pack down as small as I'd like (and I don't want to spend a fortune upgrading to their models which do nest inside a cookset). The MicroLite nests without a problem into a cookset, and that's including the fuel bottle.

Durability: I don't like rolled aluminum windscreens. They're disposable and something I've bought full well knowing it only lasts until I need to buy or make another. This is more robust is and reinforced by the stakes threaded through it to form a stable pot stand. However, I would consider using a carbon felt windscreen as a concession to the aversion to aluminum.

Simplicity: There's no wick element or anything complicating the design. Less to maintain. Less to lose.

I remember a BPL test of several of the most popular stoves about 5+ years ago, and this one was easily the best and most efficient, at that time.

    Mods? Please close this thread.

Why? Received a reply (and some good news) this morning:

    "Hi Eric,

    Happy Hiking!"
