I'm a girl! Live too far away I'm Boston to "hang " out though. Keep checking this trip planning section for your region. I've been to hangs where I am 1/7 and the only female and others where it's 50/50. All good safe times.

All of the bigger hangs include women as well as children. Quite a few women come without a man in tow. You will feel welcome and comfortable at these hangs.

Welcome!
I counted at least three women at the Hoosier Hang this year. I'm guessing there will be another big group hang at Halloween.
Thanks for the wonderful response! I am beyond excited to start hanging! I hope to meet other hangers soon!
Oops! Didn't realize that this posted! I have LOTS of learning to do! Lol! This tired 3rd shift worker is ready for some sleep! Have a great day!

Thanks for the great response! I can't wait to start hanging! In the mean time, I need to learn how to navigate this site and reply properly! 😊
Hello from a gal hanger in NC! If you wanted a change of scenery, my family and I will be at the Smoked Butt Hang at Falls Lake in the Durham NC area... Might be a bit of a commute I understand Last year at the Grayson Highlands hang in VA there were a bunch of us gals, several were flying solo.
P.s. I once was the spouse with no interest in hammocks... Shug videos plus my husband buying a hammock just for my use were successful in pulling me, then my kids (ages 3 & 9 at the time/last yr lol), into hanging together. A good book (if he's a reader) & a hammock (already hung) in the shade might be a good place to start. But if not, maybe a friend? Or better yet come to a hang and make a new friend
Welcome

My wife is an excellent Hanger! She hangs cloths out on the line in April. And in January they're still hanging out there.
Try beating that!
Another girl here! If you ever come out to Ca, I'd be happy to hang with you!
Crap...lost my post! Now to start over, it won't be as good as the first one though. lol
Welcome to the forum Thistle. Another female hanger here whose husband doesn't go. I do drag out my 16 year old son (while he attempts to grip on to his xbox). As for safety issues, just make sure someone at home has the correct park and Ranger information. You can also exchange names and numbers with those who will be at the group hang...most of us do not have a problem sharing that information at all. Most of the men who attend are married, but regardless, all of the hangs that I've been on, the men are very respectful of your privacy and everyone looks out for each other.
Just get out there and have a good time, meet some new people, and use common sense on personal safety.
Cute! Wonder what your wife would say about that! Lol! (RSGary)
Thanks Henny Jenny and DivaB!
