I can't comment enough about the airspeed suspension system on my exos 58. Having that mesh panel between my back and pack is...an amazing feeling, to say the least. The amount of air that flows through is more than I had initially inspected. I was really on the fence about an exos and ULA pack. I decided to visit my local REI and try on the exos. They fitted me for it, stuffed it with about 10 pounds of weights and pillows and I hung around/walked the store for a good hour. I was amazed at how comfortable such a minimalist pack can be, and once i felt a breeze run through my pack and pack, I was immediately sold. As previously mentioned, this pack comes with a bunch of bells and whistles (it literally has a whistle on the sternum strap). In the end, you really can't go wrong with any of the packs that have been mentioned in this thread. Let us know what you end up with!

I am a big osprey fan. With that being said I have heard good things about the ULA packs, but have never had the luxury of trying one on. I have an Osprey Aether 70 liter. The suspension is very comfortable even at 55lbs which is the most I have carried in it. I also have an older stratos 50 liter and a 26 liter stratos. I am happy with all my osprey packs they have a great suspension and I love the air scape it keeps your back dry and prevents swack. If you go with an osprey you will not be disappointed.

I bought an Atmos 50L last year and absolutely love it. I don't have the fortune of trying the others people mention. I like that all Osprey packs have a lifetime warranty.

I am so addicted to backpacking that I am pretty sure I will get an Osprey and a ULA and maybe even a Z Pack at some point! That will be the only way to know which one is best for me. Of course my wife will kill me so I will have to get one this year then another next year or the year after. If I have to I could always sell one on HF! Thanks for the help! I will let you know what I do soon.

On my AT sections, Ive used the Gossamer Gear G4 (17 oz) and My variant (11 oz), hard to beat the carry weight on either. Also, as they are frameless, when scrabbling thru the attached pic, it welds to the back.. IMG_0453.jpgIMG_0456.jpgIMG_0456.jpg
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

It's settled then, get 1 of each and you'll always have a "fresh" pack to us. I use a Walmart pack so I don't have much input at all, except get properly fitted before you buy.

Thanks for starting this thread. There is a lot of good info to compare.

    Good luck on your search.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
