it's just easier to position it where it needs to be and re position if you move around. you only really only need it between the layers if it's going under your butt/torso

My footbox has the double layer. I have been placing a 1/2 blue ccf inbetween the layers of the foot box and just lay it on the same diagonal as the footbox and pull it down towards the head end of the hammock just to where it overlaps the end of the Yeti. Works great.
the part above your feet is single layer, but any part you can lay on is double.
good to hear the leg pad works well between the layers also.
i was actually thinking about trying to make a very narrow leg pad and then put it directly in the footbox of my topquilt next time i go out. anybody tried that? probably could get away with a smaller pad.
i was actually thinking i could get by with shorter too since i use the stufffsac under my knees for comfort which would also probably provide plenty insulation for them and just leave me with needing something for the lower calves/feet. we'll see
Is the Yeti waterproof or water repellent? It looks like the material it is made out of would hold up against rain splash. I was just wondering....Im looking for a full underquilt and like the SnugFit, but am trying to not to carry a ton of stuff, I just want to carry the hammock, tarp, and underquilt not that and something to go unerneath to keep water off.
