Does everyone still use drip lines?

I have camped with a WBRR (conventional webbing suspension) w/SF in rain and not really had any problem with rain running down the suspension lines... yet. I have not camped in any prolonged heavy rains. I have camped in a torrential downpour that lasted about an hour in 35mph winds. I got to thinking the wind was probably blowing the drops off before they would be a problem.

I haven't really noticed drip lines mentioned very often in this forum.

Is this something I need to be prepared with or not?

I do with my HG cuben fiber. I have to because my Dutchbiner falls outside the ends of the tarp when I get in since my hammocks are 11 footers.

No, never have. But I also use a webbing suspension. It is its own drip line.

My whoopies are under my tarp and the slippery half-hitch I put in them are sufficient for drip lines.

One of the reasons I never considered a strap suspension is because of water running down the straps. I'm the opposite of a fair weather camper - I love the rain. And I love Dutch whoopie hooks 'cause they're a great water break.

I put rings at the end of my hammocks and attach various suspension systems to them. The rings act as drip lines.

Never used them and never had issues.

+1 Same here. I won't bother if the weather looks fine, but I'll just thread the tag line of my whoppie's through the rings if the clouds look threatening.

I use whoopies, no need for drip lines for me.
