Great job! Be sure to share pics of them in action.

Very nice. I'm always so jealous of people who can do these excellent DIY projects. I can mod with the best of them but to make something like this is beyond me. Congrats on a job well done!

Very nice job. I agree that we'd love to see some photos of them in action! Good luck on your trip.
When I first opened this thread and saw the pictures I thought you bought the hammocks and DIYed something that I couldn't notice in the pictures. After reading that you built both hammocks I must say WOW! Awesome job!

I can still do anything I could when I was 21. It just takes longer and hurts more now.
These look great!!!!
Thanks everyone!
I used XTrekker's YouTube videos (http://m.youtube.com/user/xTrekk) for the most part along with little things I've picked up from reading various threads on the forum.
Somebody commented about using Reflectix as cheap bottom insulation. I read a couple of threads about it creating pools and lots of condensation. I'm toying with the idea of picking some of that up and making a pad extender out of some sort of wicking material that would add wings on the sides and also cover it.
Anyone have any thoughts on how that might work?
I also thought you risk condensation with the reflectix... but you do with many things. I still think 8 dollars for a blue ccf pad from wally world would be perfect for 2 pad extenders:
72X20 pad divided by two = two 36x20 pads. Cut those pieces into quarters and you're left with eight 18"x10" pieces. 4 pieces each extender. 2 to each side. If someone is more educated in this and has a better thought, or if I am wrong on the reflectix, please comment so this lady who made such beautiful hammocks goes into the woods proper

Great job on the hammocks! I agree with Pinballwizard: get through this trip as cheaply as possible, figure out what works for you and make it yourself.
