Figure 9's in a Tarp Tensioning guy line

I'm incorporating Shane's tarp tensioning system for my guy lines, but instead of the line loks
    Im trying the Figure 9's.

    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...Tarp+tensioner.

I fooled around with it and made it work but there's room for improvement. Does anyone else use the 9's in tarp tensioning guy lines and have a method they are happy with? Thanks.

Can you give more details (& pictures?) of the problem you are trying to solve?
Is this the side tie-outs or the ridgeline? Ridgeline style? etc...

I've used them for guyline tieouts and it's not bad. I prefer self-tensioning guylines, though.

I've used figure 9's for guy lines but IMO nothing beats the Line-loks.

I use to use 9's but got tired of how the line would get tangled in them packing and unpacking. Made little sacs for each but it still happened so i took them all off and just tie straight to the stake. Not sure what its called,,brandon showed it in one of his early vid's. Kind of a clove hitch

[AIMG][/AIMG]It's the guy lines. There's not really a problem, I'm probably just being picky. I thought someone may have a better idea. I have the line loks but they make me nervous that they aren't as sturdy as the 9's.
    Here's a picture of what I've done.

Looks good, but you might want to think about moving the figure 9 down onto the guy line rather than the shock cord; that way if your stake is too far away for the line to reach there and back, you can just move the figure 9.

Tangling is a big pain in the neck, though!

I'm not much for a lot of fancy knots, but they work pretty well for this application; if you use Y-stakes, you can just wrap the line around the notches a couple times and it holds; or you can loop it back through yoru tie-off point and then tie it off with a slippery half hitch or two.

That works; though you may use more line than you need to if you're going to the stake and all the way back up to the Figure 9. For an alternative, you could move the Figure 9 as needed, and put it on the line with a Larks Head on a Bite. Or you could make a small loop with some cordage, Prusik it to the guy line and larks head it to the Figure 9. This would make the location of the Figure 9 adjustable.

I make a loop (or fixed eye) at one end of the guy line, Larks Head that to the shock cord, and then use a Taut Line hitch around the stake.

    Aaron,

I'd keep it like you have it and just reverse the guyline portion. Move the loop end to the stake and run the free end up to the Figure 9. This way the system is a single in-line version, no doubling of the line required. Gives you more line to work with and doesn't put unwanted friction on the stake when tensioned.

    EnoB',

That would work. Would you leave the guy line(s) attached to the stake(s) during packing?
