    first overnight and second overnight in the same weekend!

    SO I went camping with a group of friends over the weekend, out by Slide Creek off of NF 4695 near Brietenbush River; we had a great time...I set up my DIY hammock with revised strap loops and new heavier duty tree straps (didn't have time to go and buy the 2" seat belt material and sew them up.. that's the next project!) ; and set up my camo DIY Ogee style tarp between two trees.....note; the trees were barely over 12 feet apart; that shows how small the tarp is and how my short hammock is really rather short..... it was still comfortable with the USGI Intermediate Cold sleeping bag and a pad in there..in fact, last night, I was too warm, I stripped down to just my under shirt and boxers...... thankfully no pics of that
    ANYWAYS!
    on to the pics! views of the camp site; my friends are all ground dwellers....unfortunately for them. the ground is VERY rocky.... (CONT)

    So I practiced wood shaving/fire tinder skills with the various blades I have; An Imperial Ireland short blade, an Imperial RI small bowie, a Colonial Bowie, and a Buck 103 Skinner;

    (CONT) the next set of pictures are of the woods I walked in, along with some wildlife and flowers...

    a mushroom, I am not sure what it is.....a Fairy Slipper orchid, and what I think is a Western Trillium that's done for the season? and a couple pics of the fallen trees; I hope you enjoyed these pics! OH yeah; the tarp..

    it works PERFECT..... we had scattered rains, and then nights of showers...last night was the wettest by far, with lots of driving rain....I stayed dry and warm in the hammock..even with the condensation on the underside of the silnylon

    EDIT: I forgot about the Harlequin Ducks! Beautiful birds indeed!

    Thanks for sharing the adventure. Looks like a great place to spend some time in the woods with friends. Fine collection of pointy things you've got there.
    Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!
