    Sure, that works. Open both doors, pass the strap through the vehicle and back over the roof. Then close the doors.

    Go on Amazon and search for "Sherpak Quick Loops,pair" $14.95 with free shipping. Seattle Sports is the company that makes them.
    I think using these through the car or truck door would work great, I bet you can make a better and stronger pair at home with straps and a sewing machine. Would make a great DIY project.
