Can a hammock sock double as a poncho and ground sheet?

This dawned on me today... in the summer I *usually* don't need dedicated rainwear.

And it would be NICE to have a hammock sock... it would help block out wind, bugs, etc.

But in emergency situations it might be nice to have the sock serve double duty:

    - it's probably long enough to act as a ground sheet if you HAVE to go to ground. IE you're at 11k feet and there aren't any decent trees.

    - it could act as a emergency poncho. Of course I think this could be harder because it wouldn't be breathable... so that would mean that you're going to get condensation while you sleep.

    Thoughts?

Been using my poncho under my hammock for years. It also serves as an emergency ground sheet if needed. Never needed it.

Meaning you just keep it on the ground or you wrap it around the hammock?

suspended below the hammock as a weathershield. Stops air movement from stealing warmth quite effectively.
