    No.

I understand the allure of futzing with gear, hammock or otherwise. But I've not fallen into that trap. I use a hammock because it's quick, easy, and comfortable. It lets me spend days (or months!) wandering around in the woods when I feel the need to do so.

Dang! I wished I'd of said that. You really summed it up canoebie.

To be honest with you I got quite wrapped up in making sure I was getting top notch gear. Well, I've got some pretty good stuff, now I'm working more towards bringing a skill set with that wouldn't require all the top notch stuff, much more intriguing to me...

Don't get me wrong though, I love the sleeping gear I do have.

It all depends on your perspective. I do it because fiddling is half the fun of the thing. I love learning new things to fiddle with. On the other side it is merely a tool to achieve the goal of thru hiking, facialting family time outside, or putting miles on the board. Neither is wrong right. All of these are great reasons to be involved with hammocks. I love the comfort and sleep at the end of the road but, the journey to get there and preparing for the journey in the first place is just as enjoyable.
I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.
