Headed to IR next week. Fifth time to I R but first with hammock. I'd rather not bring a back-up pad, but interested in feedback on the potential need for that. Destinations: Daisy, Moskey, McCargo, Todd, Little Todd, Desor N, Huginnin, Wash Ck.

Hope you make it out there. From the looks of it, The IR Queen out of Copper Harbor can't get out due to ice until the end of the week. Don't know what it's like on the Grand Portage side, but it sure looks like the season will get off to a late start.
Please make detailed notes or pics of hammock friendly areas.. I had to scrap my plans for this year due to health crap, but I'm going mid to late may next year. The variable of the hammock was something I've had a hard time planning around.
I was in Duluth this past weekend. There was still a lot of ice on the east side of the lake. The west side had a lot of small floating icebergs in the water. When driving into Duluth looking out at the lake from above the lake looked purely white out in the distance on the east side. I'm headed to IR on the 31st.
HK- yes I'll note hammock friendly / unfriendly spots. I really don't want to bring a pad for going to the ground but may have to. Im sure there will still be snow and things will be wet.
Pizza - looking at the satellite photos of the lake it appears to be clear from GP to IR. But I wonder about the bays. So far nothing from GP ferry saying the tripnwa
was cancelled.
Glad I didn't schedule sooner just in case.
Winter still looms up North there....cramping my trip plans too))))))
Shug
Whooooo Buddy)))) All Secure in Sector Seven
The ice is still on the lake, in some of the bays there are still two feet of ice. We desperately need some warm weather up this way to get rid of it. Can anyone send some please?? Only a high of 52 for today. .
Haven't even had my kayak out yet. (
Debi
Would gladly send you 80s in exchange for cooler weather with rain😕
