Have a new Buginator that I have only used one evening. I didn't leave it set-up long so this wasn't an issue (dont' know if it's really an issue but a curiosity). Since the bottom does not close completely (seals against the bottom of the hammock, quilt, etc.), has anyone found many spiders crawling inside if it's left set-up (base camp scenario)?
Give it a good spraying with permethrin and the crawly bugs will leave it alone too.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!
why would the spiders want to? i don't think they would have a reason.
I'm not sure. Last couple of trips I've noticed spiders crawling on the bug net on my Hennessy and on my son's bugnet as well. His bugnet is zippered so I've not noticed spiders inside the bugnet. Those observations prompted my curiosity if anyone had seen spiders crawl between the hammock/quilt and the Buginator opening with the hammock unoccupied.Originally Posted by nuttysquirrel
Check out "Sawyers Permethrin spray" on Amazon.com. Spray the net outside, then let it dry outside, creepy crawly things drop dead when they get in contact with items sprayed with permethrin. I bought two bottles for my hammock and clothes.
If it's properly sealed against the bottom of the hammock I don't see how they can get in. Even when I'm out of the hammock I cinch the net and haven't found anything inside with me. I don't treat my net with Permethrin but I love the stuff.

Timely post - I just hopped in here to ask/find this exact question. Clarification from Jaxhiker - the bottom part cinches up enough when you are not in the hammock that flying bugs can't get in?
If you spray it with permethrin nothing flys in - if it does it dies pretty much on contact.

Just my opinion, but I think animals/insects go places for the same reasons that humans do: basic survival, interest curiosity, etc. I've found ants and other insects crawling on the ridge line of my tarp and hammock when I was not around. I've never had food in the hammock so they were not attracted by any crumbs. First night I ever spent in my hammock, I had a squirrel visit. He walked down the suspension line of the hammock. I think he was just curious/intrigued by the visitor to his neighborhood. Anyway, just my opinion.
