Byer Moskito Question

I am going camping with a friend and I will sleep in my Hennessy. Here is my dilemma. She has no equipment, and is a small woman. Should I bring my 3-man tent for her, or my Byer Moskito hammock? I hate to bring a tent when a hammock will do. I have spent a few hours in the Moskito reading, but did not find it comfortable enough to spend more than a few hours in it. If I have the time to get a bug net set up on one of my homemade hammocks, that would probably by best. I am curious, though, as to how many of you (smaller folks) find the Moskito acceptable for overnight. Thanks in advance.

I think Doctari used one as his main hammock for awhile. You might want to search his old posts. Has to be better than the ground.

Anything is better then lugging a 3 man tent unless your car camping.

IMHO, the Bayer is a fine hammock. I think I was too big (too tall and too heavy 5'7 / 212 LBS) for it to work "Right" But it is the reason I joined the hammock campers.
I have always felt that a smaller / lighter person would fare better than I did.
Before you go: if you have the one with the netting: sew the ends of the zipper together to keep the pulls from pulling off (as mine did). Hang in it a few times as the fabric & cords do stretch. Have her hang in it a few times at home so you can adjust the distance apart the ends need to hang, once you determine how long it should be; ADD A RIDGE LINE. As the Bayer is so light, can you take both it & your tent?

I slept in one for a few weeks. If temps go at all low, you will need a pad.

My main complaint (I weigh 165) was that the cords stretched each night. By morning, my rear was at or very near the ground.

Hand it high, bring a pad, and your friend will be fine.

Bah, just make your friend sleep on the ground underneath you, and make sure you eat plenty of beans each night before bed.

Thank you all for your suggestions. She is little, so will probably be fine. I am spoiled by my Hennessy. I like the idea of using a ridge line to make sure I hang it the same way each time. As for the beans idea, it is funny that you should mention that. Last year, 5 of us went on a trip and we all brought food to share. For some strange reason we had enough chick pea and other bean dishes to eat beans for breakfast, lunch and dinner for days. Hummus, falafel, chick pea salad, lentil salad, etc. I was glad to be alone in my hammock at night and could hear a lot of laughing coming from the other side of the campsite where 3 women were sharing a tent.

Three women..in a tent..with gas....and nobody wrote a joke about that??? you guys are slipping...
as to the hammock i think she will be fine just make sure she has good dry clothes..a pad and a good bag rig up a tarp for rain ...and she will be fine...on and make sure she knows she is a hanger now!!
