I also have no clue about Mad77's gibberish, but he's one of your's from down in FL! LOL! Maybe he will fill us in shortly.

But I also wonder who first wrote of this problem and who named it. I certainly go back years on the subject, but I don't think I would have named it "calf ridge". More likely I would have complained of "calf pressure". I don't think I had ever had , or noticed, it during my 1st postings and trips. But then one day I realized I could get it in almost all GEs. Was this maybe around 07 or 08 when I got my 1st bridge hammock? I am curious about when it all started. But one day it was a big and common problem.

    Why "calf ridge" ?

I will give it to you olddog, the butt causes the ridges however the ridge pressure is not felt on the butt only the calf.
Hence the name calf ridge pressure. hth

    Big hammocks solve big problems.
"Calf Ridge" seems to be an effect of smaller hammocks. But, if it were called *** ridge, would the problem occurring in a big hammock then be called big *** ridge?

Here is the first one I have found, almost 6 years ago from Oct 08, and it's me and with a hammock I normally consider free of this problem! (but I am still searching, may find an earlier from someone else):
    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...highlight=calf

Considering almost 6 years have past, we have not made much progress. The bridge solution was already known, I guess more recently longer hammocks have helped a lot of folks.

Wow good find BB58. It was 2011 when I discovered CRP first hand.
I determined it was from the footbox keeping me from getting diaginal enough to get my leg off of the ridges.

All this talk about when or who named it has not solved the problem.

Sure it has...11x60 hammocks are now main stream and they have no ridge pressure.

You've all heard of "butt dialing" on a cell phone? Maybe Mad77 is "calf dialing"

Just started this thread to add some humor to the comedy we call the Hammock Forum. Then to be shot down by the first heckler who is probably in bed and doesn't know what he has done. Thus ends the comedic career of olddog. Yeah BillyBob he's one of ours and no one else can have him. gmcttr no intention of displeasing Shug, which from my experience might be hard to do, so I will not use the *s in any future post.

I'm going to the hammock and will be laughing about how this thread evolved for a while. Can't wait to see what MADD777 comes up with for an explanation for the gibberish.
