The addiction is STRONG!!
So now I am so hooked on hammocks and DIY that I am offering to make and give away hammocks for friends. I was talking to my preacher who likes to take some weekend trips on his motorcycle. I told him he needed a hammock to use. He seemed excited about the idea so I told him I would make one up for him. The following is the result. (I think this will be my last free one) I have 5 or 6 people who say they would like me to make them one so I will have to at least get the materials cost back.
The tarp is 12 ft. by 10 ft, tarp made from non ripstop value material (1.50/yd) from Wally World. I will go the silicone/mineral spirits soaking method for making it waterproof. For the short sides I did a cat cut 3 inches in. and for the long sides a 5 in cat cut. I used the hanging string method to determine the curves for the cat cuts.

Basic straight stitch for the ridge line and added 7/8 in gross grain folded over the seam and stitched.

Corner reinforcement is gross grain stitched along the rolled hem.

The hammock is also non ripstop value material. Eleven Ft. whipped end with continuos loops, rings and straps. I am 6'1" 260 lbs. and it holds me fine. I would appreciate any comments, thoughts or suggestions. Very comfortable. Thanks for looking.
