WB owner needs HQ Long distance TARP

Hey guys I need a good high quality tarp for hiking. I plan to eventually use it to Hike the AT, so it will need to be high quality and light as. THANKS!

For lightweight, I'm gonna recommend OES. Grab one of their tarps (Deluxe would be a good size) in SpinnUL. It's gonna cost you more coin, but the material is wonderful. I carried a smaller one (Standard) on the AT, but the Blackbird is a little longer than the hammock I was using then. Most folks like the extra margin for error the Deluxe provides.

The MacCats are some of the best quality hiking tarps out there. You can absolutely not go wrong with one of Brian's tarps.

I agree with Cannibal. I have two of the OES tarps and am leaning towards a third one. You can get the Standard tarp he makes if your really want to be an ounce weenie but iIwould personally go with the deluxe. He also offers a Ultra Spinn tarp that is 4 ounces lighter then the Silnylon tarp.

Obviously, the same place you got the Warbonnet is one place to check for a good tarp.

Also, OES makes fantastic, light tarps in a variety of sizes and fabrics, some being extremely lightweight.

Speer makes good tarps.

JRB makes good tarps.

I would like to recommend an 11' ridgeline. It gives you good coverage without being overly obtuse. If you're going to use it to hike the AT, it would be nice to have a full 11'x10' tarp. That coverage gives you good space to manage your gear and cook / hang out in during torrential downpours. But, smaller is lighter.

Can't really argue with that, Warbonnet makes some awfully nice tarps!
But, he is not yet making Spinn tarps. When the day comes, bet your butt I'll be one of the first to place my order.
