When i am attatching my whoppie sling to my hammock (attatching the larks head etc) do i put it through the black loop on the mosquito netting first or do i put it through the suspension loop first? I am using a warbonnet blackbird.

Also, i notice that before i removed the suspension (straps + rings + few inches of grey amsteel) it was attatched really tight, however the larks head seems to be loosely attatched at the hammock end, but the larks tightens when you pull the loop end. is this you guys experience? basically it is not as tight as the previous suspension for whatever reason.

Things will tighten up when you hang it all again.

Thanks man. I think i read somewhere you were a teacher. I always wished my teachers were able to answer the questions i really had and not what they thought i was asking, however you hit it right on the money, probably from years of teaching-assuming you are a teacher. thanks.

When you guys want to make your distance from the tree longer, and you've already maxed out the sling, can you slide the spike down the hanging poly webbbing, or does it have to remain snug against the tree, touching it.

The toggle does not need to be against the tree, and can be anywhere on the legth of the hugger.

Yep, I have even put my toggle ( I just use a cheap caribiner as a toggle) on the very end of my hugger through the end loop. On a smaller tree your hugger can get you out there pretty far.

So i have a question, first time just now, tied up the hammock with the whoppie to the tree, noticed this:

Was wondering if it was normal for the sliding overhand knot (last blue part, pressing down on white suspension loop) to be sinched up tight against it, and if so an overhand seems kinda flimsy, do you guys tie other more secure knots? Or is the force of the suspension not really on this knot.

Also will the marlinspike work as a water catcher dripped thing? Since I am not tying slippery half hitches anymore will I need to make one?

Light & strong Toggle. What is it?

Scrounging my junkyard (aka basement) for toggle material I came up with a broken broom handle, E9 aluminum 33mm tubing and the material selected for making a toggle set. E9 would have weighed 1oz/4.4 inch length. The material selected ended up weighing 0.75oz for the pair. Strength tested by hanging my body weight from it. Static load and "bouncing". MSR stake for size reference.

    What is it?
Hints: It's a natural material. It is hollow, but if cut right can have sealed ends at one or both ends (makes for nice nail stake container). Utilized in construction, flooring, poles, clothing....

    Bamboo would be my guess.
