How do you guys attach your whoopie sling to your hammocks?
Do you simply larkshead yours on?
Or is there a better semi-permanent way to attach it?

I'm new to this myself, so don't know if it helps. I planning a DIY hammock- and I was going to use the larkshead on the hammock from the whoopie sling. All in one type deal, then use a tree strap with the marlin spike. I now have an ENO hammock and am making whoopie slings for it. (got my amsteel yesterday).
I have a DD Travel Hammock/Bivi it has a channel with webbing at each end. What I did was:
1. Tie a figure 8 with a bite at one end of the webbing that gathers the hammock end.
2. Pull webbing tight and tie another figure 8 with a bite, gather up excess webbing.
3. Use a "Dutch Biner" to connect the two bites and the dead eye of the whoopie sling.
4. Connect adjustable loop to your tree hugger with toggle or biner.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 for other end.
6. Adjust hang of hammock for your comfort.

Bill,
I have the Grand Trunk SB Pro, so prehaps these are similar enough (I am not familiar with your model). Originally I ran the fixed loop of the whoopie through the channel and ran the other end through the loop (larks head). This system worked fine, but I did not like the way my ridgeline attached with this arrangement.
I ended up making some short continuous loops (about 7") and I put the CL through the end channel with a lark's head, then I put laid the loop of the CL and the ridgeline together, and lark's headed the whoopie around both of these.
If you want to see a pic of my final arrangement with a more detailed description, check out this thread
Hope that helps you out.

I have found out that there is a correlation between the distance of the trees and how high I hang my suspension on the trees that I have not had to adjust my whoopie slings one time. I don't quite remember if it is the closer the trees, the higher the hang or if it is the lower the hang (meaning how high or low I hang my suspension on the trees). I might have an advantage being 6'3" though. Anyone else notice this?

There are several threads discussing this with nice charts etc. The further the trees are apart the higher you will attach your suspension to the tree to maintain approx 30 degree suspension angle.
SERIOUS QUESTION! I want to upgrade to amsteel but im concerned that friction and movement will cut through the gathered ends on my hammocks... What is the collective thought here? I am going to re-rig my Clark north american and i have seen some of my ridgelines begin to wear my "slap straps" or tree huggers to the bone... Advice please!?!?!
I have never had a problem with amsteel wearing the gathered ends of my hammocks and several hammock come with amsteel stock from the manufactures. This is for 1/8 and 7/64 inch amsteel. Smaller diameter cord will probably require some sheathing of the cord or protection of the fabric.

I left the stock webbing in the channel for the gather and connected the whoopie to it with a dutch biner so there is no wear from the amsteel as it does not touch the hammock.

I just started using whoopie slings and I'm finding it very difficult to make adjustments when there is any type of load on the sling (unoccupied hammock). They work fine when removed (not attached to anything). An ideas as to why I am failing to do something that should be incredibly easy?
