    Thanks and tool suggestion

Thanks so much for this great post. I made a pair of slings this weekend and wanted to pass along the tool I used to thread the constrictor sections. An old G string worked great A guitar G string that is. I used the G because it is the largest smooth string. Just bend it in the middle (use an old string) and trim off the anchor and part that was wrapped around the tuning peg. It was really easy to use and you can fish through the whole bury.

For the Whoopie sling on the end of the suspension, the problem isn't the sling coming off the toggle under tension, but rather when there is no tension and I'm busy around the hammock and jostling it. Only had the sling come off once or twice, but I like your idea and tried it. Made a Solomon Bar knot using 1.75 mm Lash-It about 1" long on the Whoopie Sling loop. Tied it a little looser than I usually do so it slides easily. Put sling over toggle and adjust, then slide Solomon Bar up close to toggle. As you say, I have to pull on the sling to get both strands evened out, but works great.
I was going to suggest the Solomon Bar! once I make my whoopie slings I was already planning on doing that for this exact reason!

Also, for anyone else who may know (I may have missed it in the last 51 pages in this thread) will this method work for making the fixed-eye versus just tying it in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTJSLVQhjB4?
    Thanks!

We all use a locked brummel to form the fixed eye instead of the knot shown in the OP.

I tried the method in your link and as far as I can tell it produces a plain brummel which does not fix the bury when the eye is not under tension.

If you only have access to one end, the locked brummel can still be made using this method.

Well I just made my whoopies, a whoopie ridgline, and put solomon bars on them to hold them in place on the toggle when there is no load. Fast, easy, and EVERYTHING can still compress down into the stuff sack for my hammock, including the webbing! What a day! This set-up is so awesome. Thanks again for the thread!

A little off-topic, but ToeShoe, what Fivefingers do you prefer for hiking? (I assumed you wear Vibram from your avatar, and not one of the other brands')
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.

Uhhh, yeah. I'm a Vibrams fan, through and through.

But honestly, I just hike in my Komodosport LS. The laces are great and cinch down really easy, the shoe is comfortable without being too hot, it's super-easy to clean, and the grip on the bottom holds to everything.
