I just switched out my stock DD Hammock suspension(with biners) to the "Marlin Spike Hitch Whoopie Sling Kit" from Arrowhead Equipment. The total weight of my suspension went from 1lb.3oz. to 6oz.

Just ordered some amsteel from Westmarine, can't wait to pick it up and make some whoopies!
I've been using mine for couple years now and really have enjoyed them. I might only kayak camp 3-4 times a year.

Very good guide indeed. Just made a pair of whoopie slings, no fuss at all. Simple and easy to follow directions. Get some proper tools for it and it's so easy I wonder howcome everybody's not doing this
I use a bit of gardening-wire for fish-tool. It was a little bit too thin but worked well enough. Just had to pay attention to not separate the strands, but to move between them.
Thanks again.
Ages later and I still can't express enough gratitude for this tutorial! Made my life so much easier. And lighter!
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!
I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.
It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.
I'm lazy, I ordered some.
I made some whoopies, continuous loops and a long "dog bone" for a ridge line. Time spent +/- 3 hrs.
Note: A 24" - 30" of MIG wire bent in half makes a great splicing needle.
If it's stupid but works, it isn't stupid.
