Great tutorial! I tried using the ballpoint pen mehtod and it sucked, but once I tried the floral wire- things fell into place. The floral wire made everything 20X easier.

Yeah, as I mention a couple of posts ago, wire is the way to go. Back in the day, when I did the tutorial, I didn't have any wire, but I was able to raid my wife's sewing box, so yarn darner needle it was.

I agree. I feel like a pro now using the wire.

You also end up with two lengths of rope for the ull length of the sling so could potetially use a lower rated rope for the same strength.

The downside is you can't larks head the fixed eye to the hammock.
Sure is pretty, but doesn't this mean you have to add a loop to larkshead to the hammock and some type of a biner to connect it all together, thereby adding most of the "saved length" back in as well as having a whoopie that is more difficult to adjust?

There is the downside that you can't use a larks head to attach to the hammock, but I'm sure there are a few ways to attach without adding nearly as much length as you would save. I use a nacrabiner through the end channel of my hammock anyway, which can go through the eye loop so no added length there at all.

To me the bigger advantage is that you have (in theory) double the load bearing as you have double stranding the whole length of the sling.

Many thanks to Slow Bro for the original post and whomever made it a sticky for making it permanent. I just finished making my first set of whoopie slings. Have to wait until the weekend to test them as I am on midnights. Really looking forward to this.

I used the yarn darn needle and it was tough, but once I got the hang of getting it through it became MUCH quicker.

Pray tell, what kind of unholy contraption is this? I haven't been in on this conversation...

Can you show it attached to something? It's making my brain all hurty...

It's just a whoopie with the constrictor section in a different spot (the conversation started on the last page at post #777.

Here's a picture of it short between a couple of nacrabiners.

Okay, so the larger than usual eye is the constrictor. I got it, I got it.

It's both elegant and confusing at the same time.

I don't mean to knock your idea, it's very clever and does give you a very short whoopie, but isn't it harder to adjust?
