Here is a great guide. I don't use quite the 15' but I do refer to his instructions every time and always buy from him.

Hi
Would this work,
if i was to attach my 6` whoopee sling to my hammock that has a swen in channel, thread the small none adjustable loop through the swen end and finish it with a larks head (pulled through its self) the the other end of the whoopee to a carabiner that attaches to the tree web starp? sorry if this has been asked before but very new to it all and i have read loads of post on here some dont make sense to me yet.
Thanks
Bill
That configuration works perfectly, Bill.

That's the configuration I use. I did change out the carabiner for an aluminum ring. It's a tad lighter but provides modularity in suspension choice and a water break.
As a newbie to whoppee's
Just a quick one, when buying amsteel what length would I need to make two whoopee slings,a couple of soft shackles, and a enough to make a ridge line out of , with a little left over? Please, I probably think it's one of those "how long is a piece of string scenario questions, but as a rule of thumb so to speak
Thanks for your kind replies
Share your knowledge, it is a way to achieve immortality.
I use 12' per whoopie, 40" per continuous loop (never made soft shackles, but they must be similar) and your ridgeline should be about 83% of your hammock length (~110")

Several of the vendors sell it in 25' increments (of course it can be had by the foot as well). With that in mind, you are going to want at least 50'. My rule of thumb for buying amsteel is to get at least 100' unless I think actually think I need 100' in which case I get 200'. Splicing is addictive.
