Whoopie Sling Suspension

I just made a pair of whoopie slings. My first set. Min usable distance is 18" and max is 12' 6". This is with a 10" bury on 7/64 Dynaglide. I will be testing them with Canoebie on Sat. Caneobie do you have a spare set of tree huggers? I have some straps I can use but im not sure if they will stretch bad or not. Find out tomorrow night. Hmm need to update my profile to include Whoopie Slings for suspension. I have enough rope left to make a set of UCR's as well. Not sure how long they will be yet. At least 10' each. Now I just need to find 2 trees about 33' apart reallly test these things.

You got that right. I just hung it at 25' in my living room. (I knew there was a reason I haven't put up drywall yet.) Worked great. I bent the screws I put in the studs but I knew I would. Measured and I have about 8.5' of range left. Of course I had it hung so low if something failed I may have fallen 6". This was a super easy project. The hardest thing for me was finding the wire to do this with without spending any money. Found it hiding in the junk drawer.

Gotta question on Whoopee's or Whoopie's .... well you get it ... what is the most common length used ... at it's shortest point? Individual whoopee section that is.

Asking mostly those of you that have used them for a while. Having been a clinch buckle strap kinda hanger ... seems 5.5 ft. minimum length that I have on my current whoopee forces me to further spaced trees than I need with clinch buckles and straps. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

5.5 ft. minimum per side? You should be able to get down to less than 18" per side easily. I think mine are closer to 12". I'm not sure I'm understanding your question though Michael.

My loose end of the cord comes out of the bury about 2 to 3 inches from the end of the hammock. Bury is about 10".

When the whoopee is slid all the way to the hammock ... the loop is end is 5.5 feet long ... fully slide it toward the tree ... it's about 9.5 feet! That seems a bit excessive to me ... it's a set I ordered from Paul. Bury is about 10 inches on these.

The one's I made from the blue amsteel you gave me ... are about half that.

So I was curious ... I've got the end doubled in the channel of an ENO ... but makes me feel like I should really be shortening the thing up a lot.

Couldn't remember the short vs long length you use on yours pal.

Sounds like you may have attached the wrong loose end to the hammock. The portion of cord that is the outer part of the bury should be attached. The loose/adjustable end should be going through the bury. I think there is a diagram around here somewhere showing that.

Well dang it ... mystery solved! ... That's what I get for tying them in the dark. I screwed up.

Looks like I did it right following your instructions on the blue whoopie and then went and tied these in back arse wards.
