Ultralight tarp guys/tie-outs...what do you use?

Placed an order for an HG cuben tarp w/doors...wheee! Now looking to save those last few grams and find the lightest line that will do the job for guys/tie-outs. What do you use?

Also, pros/cons of reflective line? I'm inclined towards yes.

While we're at it: is there a real benefit to adding some shock cord (given that I assume it'll also add some weight and bulk)?

    Thanks,
    Dawn

The lightest stuff/smallest line I have seen is this
    http://store.picharpak.com/index.php...&product_id=51
It is a reflective cord, I have yet to decide on which is better. I have a set of reflective and a set of zing it guy lines. I guess I haven't had any issues tripping over the zing it so don't know if the reflective is necessary. I do know that the first time I do trip over it I will have wished I was using the reflective line on that night. The only cons I can think of with reflective cord is you can not splice it and some is obnoxiously reflective.

    Hi,

I use zing it in an adjustable style. Check out the below to see how it works (start at the 1 min mark if you like).

Oooh, cool suggestions. Of course that ultra-light reflective cord is hot, but the whoopee-style adjustment is pretty clever...!

Has anyone used the MSR ultralight reflective line? This stuff: http://www.rei.com/product/829843/?c...46925306320%7C

Maybe my math is off, but I am seeing the msr at 3.223 grams per meter compared to the Dyneema cord that is 1.27 grams per meter. These numbers are off so MSR website. I hope I got the right one.

Edit: As I look at this I do not believe that the msr could weight that much and I am to tired to try again. Maybe I will give it a try in the morning when I can think.

I'm not a fan of the reflective line. I use 1.75mm Zing-It! for my ridge line and guy line tie-outs. It weighs 0.5g per foot.

Do a search for FireInMyBones -he picked up some really light stuff that he likes. And cuben doesn't stretch like sil nylon so no need for shock cord on the tie-outs. Nice gear you're amassing.

I have the same tarp. I use Kelty Triptease. 1 oz for 50', reflective, and holds knots well.

I use 1.25mm z-line from z-packs for my tie outs and 1.75mm zing-it for my ridge line. The z-line has an outer core that gives it a stiff property so it does not tangle easy.

For tarps, why not just use braided mason line? Surely it's lighter than zing-it
