    50$ portable hammock stand?

so theres no way this thing is anything but a piece of junk... right? it looks like its definitely on the short side, but i have a 9ft hammock seems like it could maybe work with sag? or would i much more likely be wasting 50 bucks lol.

Hmm…definitely short, and I imagine any more sag and you'd be on the ground. Unless of course the model in that photo is extremely tall.

For $50 I would build my own portable hammock stand.

I received one as a gift last summer and the stand was/is too short for my 8 1/2 hammock - it works fine for the bridge hammock that came with it.
It's actually a nice set-up. Bridge hammocks are too flat for me thought.

Define "portable." I've seen a few simple DIY collapsible stands. The second one looks like it would be way more portable (the guy in the video carries it on a motorcycle).

Of course if you wanna splurge and spend twice that you could get one of these portable stands that weighs 3.2 pounds: http://www.handyhammock.co.uk

Very nice. Tried to make the tripod one once. I did not use a thick enough pole and almost got hurt. Please be careful....

Yea tree's arent all that rare where Im at but It would be nice to have a set up around the backyard that i could test out gear at. I think i'd prefer making something of my own but like BBST said i'd be afraid of underengineering it.
