    Ready to hang in OC

I'm transitioning from ground dweller to hanger.
I've been preparing myself for it over the past year or two, learning and researching through videos and forum posts here.
Buying lighter sleeping bags all the while knowing I would soon be trading them in for under quilts and top quilts.

When I'm camping I like to be able to comfortably relax and enjoy time in the woods.
But as a backpacker often times my chair is the most comfortable looking log or rock nearby.

My boys camped for the first time in their hammocks this past weekend.
I bought them Grand Trunk Ultralights because for $20 you can't go wrong.
I brought along the tent just in case it rained or they kept falling out of their hammocks, or couldn't sleep in them, or were too cold etc...
Turns out I was the only one who didn't sleep very well.

Finding a suitable hang spot on the mountain was no problem. It was trying to find a tent spot too that was difficult.
And then having to prepare the ground: trying to level it out a bit, clear away any sharp sticks or rocks, and add some pine needles and leaves etc.
The hammocks were just so much simpler and convenient.

And then I laid in one of the hammocks during the afternoon for a while.
    I was sold.
    I'm done with tents.
Thanks for this great resource HammockForums.net!
Now, what are all the hammocks I'm going to get?

    Trail comfort

Sounds like a good camping trip. I have slept in and camped in hammocks for over 40 years but still own several tents. There are a few places I enjoy where it is almost impossible to hang at. However, once you figure out a few technical issues a hammock has many advantages, in the wilderness and at home, comfort being one of the biggest pros.
Wishing you many restful nights on the trail.
My Dad would often kick back after a hard day in the wilderness with few comforts but having made the best camp possible he would say "sheer luxury". He liked hammocks.

Like Thunder Adventure Company I have also converted to being a dedicated hanger after tent camping for many years. I agree with him that there are so many hammocks and the choices seem limitless. I believe the key to be to have several....I never met a hammock I did not like.

Thanks ntxkayakr! Great story about your dad! I can picture it in my mind.
I'll still hold on to a couple of tents for the same reason you stated.

    Hey Dedicated Hanger!
    That's what I'm afraid of.
A whole new realm of things to spend loads of money on.
    Here I come!

Welcome to the forums from Greenville, SC. I have ordered gear from your store before and love that you give back to the community. If you're looking to learn the way of the hammock, you come to the right place.
