That's what I was hinting at. Looks like a good job of splicing, but other than that........

Every time I have the opportunity to hang, but all I can find are swords and spears sticking up out of the ground - these would be useful. I'll remember this solution next time I have that dream.

Looks nice, I dont think it would go over my msh and if it did, it would come off very easily. Not sure it would fit my whoopie hook either. It seems somewhat restrictive because the shape of the eye can't be changed. Is it a whoopie or ucr or something else??

    Nice splicing though!

I certainly think there may be some uses. For example, if you you are using a hammock stand, this would allow you to simple hang the hammock by putting the loop over some hooks on the stand. Without the thimble, repeated use of the hammock would put the same portion of the amsteel on the hook and cause wear. The thimble would not only protect the rope at that point but the size of the loop will help reduce the strength reduction incurred when a sharp bend is put into a line.

Certainly not the answer for all situations, but it may have its place.

I was just working with my amsteel scrapes and put this together to see if anyone could use it in ANY way. If they could great I helped some one if not no big deal. I did not splice it ya all it's one piece of 3mm amsteel. Both of the rope protectors weigh only .7 oz or 21 grams on my reloading scale so not to heavy at all. Being disabled I have a lot af time on my hands and can or try to come up with different ways to help anyone. So if you think one will help you let me know.
    Thanks for all the comments,
