    Our 1st overnighter

My wife and I's first hang. Thought we had the perfect spot. HOWEVER - it was the 4th weekend of the month, and the neighboring National Guard was on nightime manuvers...with helicopters. Their mission: find them hammockers and hover about noisily. They successfully completed their mission at about 1am. oh, did i mention that we were lakeside and the other half of the Guard were on amphibious manuvers with their well lit deck boats? LOL!

We never did get to hit the hiking trails the next day. Wife crawled out of the hammock at 6am, looked at me, and said "can we go home now?" Oh well, we were back out again a couple weeks later at a different campground and it was much more restful.

Not the best of starts.....but at least the 2nd hang was a better shared experience.
Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

For what it's worth, almost every backpacking trip I've ever been on has had some form of a Beautiful Disaster. Still, a good story is totally worth a sleepless night . By the way, do you guys have the same setup? just curious.
