was just in that section a couple weeks ago. We camped just outside of the bear lake campsite... it was full and I was with ground dwellers Bear lake itself is a little tricky as there is only one clear hammock spot, but we managed three hangers down there last year without much trouble. There is a "rest stop" right above bear lake which has a latrine and fire pit. That's where we camped this time. All the other sites in the area looked like they would work fine for hammocks, but I didn't inspect them really. How many hammocks you trying to hang?

Thanks for the intel, hikingdad. We are hanging two hammocks. Hoping for the lakeside site, though we will get there later in the day.
