I have a light weight (magna 1.0 camo) hammock sock. Now that it's getting warmer but still cool at night, I'm thinking to not bring a bug net and not bring a tarp and just use the sock. What do you guys think? Also, what temps do you guys ditch the sock. Anyone use a sock year round?
i allways use a sock when car camping. remember standard noseeum netting weighs 1.1 oz per square yd., so you don't actually save weight over a sock.
i would just use a sock or bugnet, and bring a small aysym style tarp or poncho as backup.
The only issue I see is weather protection. You should carry a tarp just in case a storm blows through.
