    Photo of the Day

From Daytona Beach Florida a bear had been coming into someone's yard, poked around the hammock, ate some food and left then came back to the hammock for a little rest....they really are intelligent animals.

I had to post it since it bears a resemblance to my avatar. Pun intended.

    Oh yea. Very cool.

We should invite that bear to a hang. Seems he knows what he is doing.

Most offensive part of the article was from the dude who's house it was:
"He got in the hammock like he was some tourist or something"
What's that mean? tourists wander into his yard and sit in his hammock? Only tourists like hammocks?
Also how the guy's planning on taking the hammock down now. If I had a house where bears were enjoying my hammock, I'd buy more hammocks and setup cameras to hopefully catch wacky moments- sorta similar to Wegman's dog photo series.

While I can believe the incident happened, and there have been many photos/videos of bears in hammocks, that photo looks photoshopped. It just doesn't appear to hang right considering the position and weight of the bear.

It was all over the news this morning with some video and several still shots, this was the only one of him actually in the hammock.

    Bear's prefer spreader bar hammocks?

Black bears either prefer Hatteras style hammocks or they are just very commonly left out in people's back yards based on all the youtube videos of them.

My concern is that people see these clips on TV and internet and then bait the bears, cougars etc onto their property for videos to post online. Wild cats especially prefer to sleep off the ground. Even a dog if given the opportunity in hot weather will not sleep on the ground. In my opinion it is mostly just "some" people who chose to sleep on the ground considering the superior choices they have.
