Exactly Where do You Tie Your Structural Ridgeline

I set up the ENO Doublenest for the first time today, and am starting to think about an SRL. Just curious, does this get tied ( on either side) to the caribiners themselves,(the ones hooked to my Atlas straps), or to the line holding the biners (right next to the gathered ends)?

    Thanks for humoring the newbie.

Hopefully several people will comment on their personal preferences,

but that is just it, try out several attachment places and see what feels best for you. Generally closer to the hammock is better and you should be able to grab the SRL and twist or torque it a bit. (I'm not good with words) I.e not extremely tight. Read comment #7 of this thread, pgibson has a ton of experience:

PS: Just struck me that perhaps you wanted a close up photo for this at the gathered end, it would be great if someone with an ENO DN could provide that or a link to it. I don't have an ENO DN, but know how to search.

The closer to the hammock body the better but that may put it too low to be comfortable under. That leaves me thinking the biners are a good place. I'd tie a figure 8 loop in one end then clip it to one clip. Clove hitch and a half hitch keeper on the other end. Put a couple of witness marks near that end with a magic marker and leave a foot or so extra tail. That way you can tweak the ridge line until you are happy with it. You can also unclip the other end when you are sitting upright if it hits you in the back. ;-)
    YMMV

Of course, you tie it to the structural components.

I use soft shackles on my UL set up. They replace the heavier carabineers used previously.

In both instances the SRL was attached at that point, not at the body of the hammock.

    Structurally it does not matter.

But as a matter of preference it is easier to attach it at that point and, as stated above, also gives a little more room overhead. That is important with my UL hammock because the body is only 9 feet long.
