    Newb from Houston, Tx area

I want to say a big THANK YOU to all you folks on HF! I have been lurking for a while now and have learned so much from you. I slept in a tent one night as a teen and said never again. So I got pop-up campers that lead to RV's (which I live in now). But I keep hearing a little voice that says "I just want to go sit in the trees". Hence, I find myself in my senior years buying my first hammock. The walmart $25 which is still in it's bag. I keep seeing all the stuff for sale here and I like to shop so that's a dangerous combination. I'm hoping there are some folks in my neck of the woods that I can meet and hang with.
    Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the welcome. It's great to be here and also to know there are folks in my area. Austin is a stretch but I hear it's a great place.

Thanks sargevining! I appreciate the welcome. I will keep my eye on the outings forum. I also noticed you have Texas Mens Wilderness Ministry on your info. I would be interested in knowing more about that as I am in ministry also. (But I'm not a man, LOL) Just curious. Not sure if I'm allowed to say that as I'm newbie. I do know that I am reluctant to set up my walmart hammock since I've read about the ropes breaking. I wish I could see other hammocks in person. I guess that' where a hang comes into play.

Howdy and welcome to the trees from Aggieland. I'll second Sarge's suggestion to watch for outings as group hangs can not only be fun, they are great opportunities to learn and try new gear and techniques.
