LOL...I saw that, too. My experience in Scotland's highlands is that convenient rock outcrops of the desired height and configuration can be rare too. More typical (especially up high) is wind...BIG wind...and rain for variety. The wind makes hammock-size tarps and many tarptent style lightweight tents pretty chancy if not impossible/impractical. "Walking" in the highlands is the schnizzle!

From my experience with speaker stands of many different types, I wouldn't trust them at all to hold up to lateral stress. They are designed to support vertical weight, but have no strength to stand up to the load imparted by a hammock. I'm pretty confident that they would fold in half as soon as you crawled in.

At 55 lb. capacity each, you gotta be reallly skinny to trust that.
