My wife and I have one for lounging in the yard and car camping. It is great! We have it hung with Harbor Freight tiedown straps and ring buckles on whipped ends. It is so big and there are so many ways you can lay in it. We like laying in it facing each other with our heads at opposite ends for reading or talking. Just remember to wash it first.

Hammocking, car camping, backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Getting in touch with nature is getting expensive. Good thing I can DIY!

Thinking about making one of these for lounging in the backyard. Which are the best tablecloths for a hammock? I've only ever used standard ripstop nylon fabric.

That is what most people use, it is very similar, if not identical to the ENO fabric.

Many ideas, soft wide sides, thick fabric?

Many good points made in this thread. It seems to me that for backpacking if a very tall and muscular person or couple used one it would have a weight to comfort ratio logic. Otherwise better for camping styles that use ATVs, toboggan, canoe, pack horse, sled dogs, or automobile etc.

I did read in another thread that for such an unusually wide fabric used with one sleeper it is best to whip the ends so that the edges are soft and not tight. Also for every night use at home (healthy spine issues) I have considered ordering the extra thick fabric from TableclothsFactory.com both for comfort and to last longer after repeated laundering.

I believe the extra thick fabric option from www.tableclothsfactory.com
Is 250 gsm or over 7 oz per lineal yard so extremely heavy for BP. But great for every night sleepers, comes in both regular and 90x156" but limited colors last I checked. Different dynamics than ENO and most camping hammocks, but then I don't wear the exact same apparel and footwear for every activity, or my wife would send me to a shrink more often. JK. (JoKing).

I'd say the eno fabric is smoother and has a tad bit more stretch than the tablecloths.

I just made one. I'm 6'5", 260 lbs. I like the length, but it's a little too wide and the excess flops over. I'm thinking about cutting some off the width and giving that a try.

I've got a good spread of 4 trees in my yard... any thoughts as to getting one of these, and tying it off from each corner to a separate tree? Sort of a suspended bed idea..

The way to take the floppy out of the sides is with knotty mods. I over did it and went quad knotty mods on mine.uploadfromtaptalk1402337195595.jpguploadfromtaptalk1402337252099.jpg
