    My knotless tarp suspension.

Inspired by the ease of using whoopie slings and the ease of making them I wanted to incorporate that system into my tarp.

I was able to make a really simple set up with a sliding splice as the lock and an eye splice on the end to simply use a toggle to lock it to the tree. Hopefully this ends my knot tying and untying and readjusting. Those trees are pretty huge, but it should be enough line for most normal sized trees at various distances.

Whoopie slings as a tarp suspension aren't very popular because they are not easily adjustable under tension. You almost need three hands; one to release the tension, another to milk the bury and another to move the line in and out of the bury. I found myself using my teeth as the third hand before deciding whoopie slings aren't really suited to tarp suspensions. YMMV.

I had no problems tensioning those lines, I set one to length and set the lock, then went to the other side and loaded the tarp ridge with my right hand while adjusting the lock with my left, then I pinched off the bottom and set the lock before unloading the tarp ridge.

I left it set up in the wind for a good while just like that and it didn't appear to have slipped or shifted at all.

It's undoing them that tends to be hard under tension.

    I see.

I guess time in the woods will tell then, the bury is only about 5 inches so I don't anticipate much of a problem with it, worst cast just pop the toggle and unload the line.

Can't tell from the pictures but it looks like the buried line is being loaded and the outer part is not. This will function like a UCR and just a little push on the outer part of the bury towards the tarp and it will release easily.

I agree with Bubba after a little more careful examination of the pictures. It appears you've created a loopie sling and it will act as Bubba describes and be rather easy to unload under tension.

    Cheers
