I'm not completely stupid, just "Nucking Futz"
I don't use a pillow typically. Unless the temperature is on the line and I'm not using a sleeping bag - then I'll use something under my head to keep my ears warm!
I tried using a pillow, but I was much more comfortable putting the pillow under my feet or legs than under my head. I sleep better with nothing under my noggin.

I've seen a few of the hiking pillows that are either down, air, or some combination.
Was kinda wondering about one since a normal pillow almost seems to big to use.
Although... I recall seeing a DIY about making one... I'll be back shortly to finish my ....
I do use one ..... cause I snore like a freight train if I don't!

"But hey, 2 trees anywhere is a bedroom waiting to happen, right?"
I'm finding that as I get more familiar with the hammock-feel, I don't even want/need the little down pillow I made for myself. I absolutely must have one on the ground but to my surprise I'm getting by well without one in a hammock. When it's needed, I wear a light fleece or wool beanie to keep my shaved head warm.
I use a small rectangular pillow under my legs. It settles down against my butt where that extra warmth is most welcome because the space under my knees can allow convection to rob heat even inside the hammock. I've tried using the same size pillow under my neck, and it feels nice but doesn't stay in place, so I'm going to make a new neck pillow using Redoleary's design.
I made a 10" x15" pillow out of leftover climashield and ripstop that does just fine. It gets stuffed into one of my quilt compression sacks along with the quilt.
Wouldn't be without it but then I have an old whiplash injury that will still mess me up if I don't sleep well.
I use one but not under my head. I need something between my knees when side sleeping so thats where the pillow goes.
I found a little cylinder pillow at a garage sale for a buck(probably intended to be made into a couch pillow) that is just cotton and polyfill. It takes a little adjusting to get used to it but it does support my head better. I saw that thread about the diy and im thinking about making one thats a little flatter and maybe not so overstuffed.
