    How to treat with permethrin?

I just picked up a bottle of 38% permethrin. So uh... what do I do now? Also is 29.99 for 16oz of 38% a good price?

if it's a spray bottle i would just put a heavy layer on what your'e trying to treat, let it air dry and maybe do it again. http://sawyer.com/maximize-effective...ric-treatment/

The OP has permethrin in a 38% concentration - so they'll need to dilute it first.

The concentration in Sawyer Permethrin is .5% - so you'll have to figure out how much of the 38% to add to a set amount of water (say, 1 gallon) in order to dilute it to .5% first. Once that's done, then yes, you just spray the gear or clothing evenly until well saturated, and allow to dry.

    How to treat with permethrin?

My math may be wrong - I haven't taken chemistry in 20 years - but I believe the ratio you're looking for, to get a 38% solution down to a .5% solution is 76:1

    Based on that:

For 128oz (1 gallon) of water you want to add 1.68oz of 38% permethrin concentrate.

Again, take my math with a grain of salt.

Let us know how this works. Knotty told me once that he uses this stuff and that due to the dilution it doesn't smell much. Usually the petroleum based stuff has a smell but being diluted by such a ratio should eliminate much of the scent. Let us know what you think.

If you're a pet owner, make sure to keep this far away from them and their toys/food/beds etc, especially da wittle kitty cats. I always wear gloves, and a bandana over my breathin' holes. Don't spray your underwear.

You want to make sure to dilute, Do not spray it at 38% ratio. Bad things might occur. Sawyers is .5%

Here is another brand, It's 8oz bottle @ 10%Permethrin 90% Petro. Cost, $8.99 at my Local hardware store in the horse/Cattle section.
Even that would need to be diluted. forgot the Ratio, for it. ;-)
