It Was a Dark and Stormy Night...

Its been a while since I posted a trip report. Took a backpacking trip this weekend with my oldest daughter's boyfriend.

Great report! Those bloodsuckers really do suck! Did any of your conversations include "now what you fixin to do with my daughter?" I would have been nervous!

LOL, no, we know Jared pretty well and know we don't have much to worry about. Besides, if he were to try anything inappropriate, he'd have more to worry about from his momma than me. She'd hurt him...bad.

Came to the realization late last night we found a few chiggers too. Guess we'll be itching for the next week or two.

Excellent trip report....glad the skeeters lightened up a bit.

Your tarps look tight, why didn't you guys just lower them and ride out the storm in your hammocks?

I had actually dropped one corner of mine and was about to drop the other corner when we heard a tree snap nearby. We didn't know how much longer the wind was going to last so we decided not to chance it. Really crappy part about the whole deal, aside from sleeping on a concrete floor...by the time we got to the shed the wind had pretty much died. Apparently the worst of the storm bypassed us.

Nice report, sounds like you had an interesting time with your new pack.

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.

Yeah good call on the storm, I agree, why take chances when you don't have to?
